In this section we tell you about our gluten-free experience along the suggestive route of the Bernina red train, which starts right from a village in Valtellina, namely Tirano. In particular, we will present you two places (one in Ponte in Valtellina and one in Switzerland) where you can taste the local specialties.

Restaurant in Ponte in Valtellina, a charming and characteristic village in Valtellina. The restaurant is also very charming and offers typical dishes of the area, also available in a gluten-free version. In particular, we tried the typical Valtellina bresaola and the two most famous dishes of the Valtellina tradition, namely pizzocheri and sciatt.


Just off the Morteratsch glacier stop is this hotel-restaurant that is well informed about gluten-free. When we reported celiac disease, they brought us fresh gluten-free bread. Here we tasted the typical Swiss dish, potato rösti.
